Our rules-based DM system is extremely flexible, allowing you to create any number of rules, which, when triggered, will send personalized DMs.

Our purpose in offering a rules-based DM system is to help ameliorate the problem of DM spam. We believe that by offering a robust system which allows you to send DMs based on specific criteria for each DM recipient, with the further ability to personalize the message to each recipient, we help eliminate the problem of "dumb" DMs that are blasted out to every follower without regard to their particulars. That said, as with any programmatic system, we do require that you read our rules of the road when it comes to this feature.

To fully take advantage of our system, please completely read the following important instructions.

The basics...

You first must create a "DM set". A DM set can contain rules and DMs. If ALL of the rules in a DM set are met for a candidate user, then we will randomly send one of the DMs contained in that set.

You can create as many DM sets as you like. We will test each candidate user by first seeing if there is a match for the first DM set; if there isn't, we will try the second DM set; if there isn't, we will try the third DM set; and so on. You may consider adding a default DM set as the very last set -- this one may contain NO rules, indicating that if none of the previously attempted DM sets match, we will send a default DM from this last set.

Personalizing your DMs...

You can use tweetscript in your DMs. There is also special DM-specific syntax which lets you use automatically fill-in words specific to each person you are DMing, including:
